Microsoft "Genuine Advantage" cracked in 24h |
|
This week, Microsoft started requiring users to verifiy their serial number before using Windows Update. This effort to force users to either buy XP or tell them where you got the illegal copy is called 'Genuine Advantage.' It was cracked within 24 hours."
Before pressing 'Custom' or 'Express' buttons paste this text to the address bar and press enter:
javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all')
It turns off the trigger for the key check. |

ATI & Nvidia Drivers for Windows Vista |
|
Both ATI and Nvidia have just released Windows Vista graphics drivers. These are required for Vista's special effects to be enabled (along with a DirectX9.0-capable graphics card). Obviously most of you won't be running the Windows Vista Beta as it is not a publicly released Beta, however I'm giving the heads up on this simply because it's a great sign of things to come. If the major hardware companies get on board with solid drivers for Windows Vista early on, think of how stable and well-tested these will be when Vista comes out in June 2006.

Longhorn's most useful feature "leaked "as XP tweak |

Microsoft claims Longhorn will be, er, faster. The only reason why its faster is they added a superfetch feature to the prefetcher. If you look at the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\
Session Manager\Memory Management\Prefetcher
You will notice in windows xp
EnablePrefetcher = 3 and you will notice in windows longhorn
EnableSuperfetch = 1
Well, guess what? You can put the EnableSuperfetch = 1 in windows xp and get the same speed.
Wow, Microsoft just added a feature that was already there in xp.

Hands On With Windows Vista |

PCMag.com have written a great article which goes into detail about the new Windows Vista Beta 1. I personally haven't had the chance to try Windows Vista Beta, but these guys have and they cover all aspects of Windows Vista in detail, including screenshots. From what I've read, it looks like it's going to look better, perform better and fix a lot of complaints people have about Windows XP. Another useful Windows Vista Beta review here.

Grandma Sues Rockstar Over Hot Coffee |

Some New York Grandma is suing Rockstar for trying to sneak sex to her 14-year-old grandson in what she thought was just a game about pimping, drug-dealing and cop-killing.
No, this isn’t a joke.
Florence Cohen, 85, is seeking unspecified damages on behalf of herself and consumers nationwide.
According to the suit Cohen bought the game for her son knowing it was rated Mature, but apparently decided it was no longer appropriate for him when the ESRB bumped the minimum age from 17 to 18, because one f*cking year makes all the difference in the world.
I think Rockstar should sue Cohen for being a bad parent. I think Congress should hold a hearing about Cohen and her flagrant disregard of a rating system that says the game isn’t appropriate for her underage grandchild. I think. Sen. Hillary Clinton needs to introduce a bill and that the House needs to pass a resolution. I think CNN and ABC and CBS and NBC and yes, even the W f*cking B needs to spend countless hours picking over Cohen’s childrearing skills.
What I really think is that someone needs to knock on Cohen’s front door and ask her at what point did our nation’s ability to parent get replaced by a subcommittee and frivolous lawsuits?
